Today I got a call regarding the MRI I'm having on my foot. " We need your insurance number to confirm your appointment tomorrow." "Certainly, may I have your name please?" ( years of working at a dental office taught me two things. Always be polite to the people who must call you. And always get a name.) "Scar." "I beg your pardon?" "Scar." *Crickets chirping* (Like a keloid, Simba's uncle?) "Can you hold for just one moment please while I get my card, Scar?" So I go into the kitchen to get my card and what do I find on the floor but some sort of indistinguishable liquid. I don't know what it was. I was worried that it was something that Beast (ahem) did but it was the wrong color. I seriously don't know what it was or where it came from so I instantly I gloved up, got a bunch of paper towels and a bottle of Clorox spray in sort of a makeshift Hazmat protocol and started the clean up. At that point I contemplated someone smelling it to solve the mystery but who wants that job? So I put a layer of paper towels down to absorb the liquid and wiped them around using my crutch (they do have their benefits). Next I coated the section of floor with the Clorox and waited the 3 minutes suggested on the bottle for maximum disinfection. Again with the paper towels and crutch. To reward myself for my efficient response to the unknown chemical spill, I decided to make myself a nice cup of tea. Out came the mug and tea bags, and the electric kettle was filled and switched on. While I was waiting for the water to boil I let Bilbo climb on my shoulder and I went back to my room to check my phone in case something happened in the world in the last 5 minutes and SCAAAAAR! Oh shit, I completely forgot about her for like 5 or 10 minutes while I was cleaning up the spill and getting my tea ready. She was holding for me the whole time. I feel terrible. So I grabbed the phone and limped as quickly as I could back to the kitchen to get my card. As I ran/hobbled I noticed my water was boiling so I stopped to pour water on my tea. Then I stirred the bags around in the mug a bit to evenly distribute...oh yeah, card. I think I have attention issues.
